We Are Here For You: COVID-19 Updates

At Club de Soleil, we care deeply about the well-being and safety of our owners and guests and wanted to provide you with an update on the steps we are taking at the resort to ensure your safety!

The COVID-19 pandemic has certainly changed everyone’s lives. That doesn’t stop us from doing everything we can to give our guests the best experience and vacation possible!

We are accepting reservations at the resort for guests and owners to come and stay with us. However, please know that during this time, the resort will only be booked at 50% capacity. We have taken these additional precautions for everyone during COVID-19–

  • The Front Desk and Concierge areas will be fitted with plexiglass acrylic screens and social distance markers are on the floor for everyone’s reference.
  • Keys, lobby access doors, stairway banisters, elevator buttons, desks, door handles, and all other high contact areas will be disinfected regularly by our staff.
  • In your room, we will be placing “Cleaned and Sanitized” stickers in all high contact areas to let you know we got it.
  • Room assignments will be done so in a way that will allow for better social distancing.
  • Enhanced cleaning of the gym.
  • All employees will be participating in ongoing training to ensure health and safety measures are upheld.

Nevada entered Phase Two of reopening on May 29th, since then there have been many positive changes in regards to what we can have open on property. After careful consideration of the Phase 2 plan and guidance from the CDC and state directives, we were able to make these further changes-

  • Our pool and hot tub will be open 24/7 but operating at 50% capacity.
  • Our gym will officially be opening for use.
  • BBQ area will be open for use.

Just recently, the Governor stated that in order for Nevada to stay safe with COVID-19 and remain open it is mandated to wear face coverings in all public areas. This Declaration of Emergency Directive was announced on June 26th, 2020.

With that, all guests must wear face coverings while indoors and while walking around the property. If you are outside and maintaining a 6ft distancing, you are not required to wear one. This is for not only your safety but for everyone at the resort. If you have further questions about the new COVID-19 directive, please click here.

While you are at the resort we recommend you only ride the elevator with people in your party. Please continue to practice social distancing between each other and in all public areas on our property. Such as our walkways, hallways, lobby areas, etc.

We intend to operate as set forth for as long as possible; however, please realize that these are dynamic and rapidly-evolving circumstances that require day-to-day decision making. For our guests, we will commit to waive cancellation penalties or offer full refunds.

All reservations booked having taken advantage of a “non-refundable” offer will have the opportunity to change their travel dates without penalty. All other retail reservations can be changed or cancelled at no charge up to 48 hours before your scheduled arrival.

If you need to adjust retail reservations through our Call Center, please contact our Reservation Team at 1-855-386-4658. If you need to adjust a retail reservation made through an online travel agency (OTA) or another third party, please contact them directly.

Rest assured that we will contact you in the event that we are required to further change course due to updated health and safety guidance. Thank you for your continued support and understanding as our team navigates what is truly new ground for all of us. This is a fluid situation with local, state, and federal jurisdictions issuing guidance and/or restrictions continuously.

Club de Soleil wants to thank you for your continued support and love as we do everything we can to provide you with the best vacation possible!

Unusual Vegas activities for the adventurous

Finding fun things to do on your Las Vegas vacation doesn’t take a lot of effort or imagination. Just point yourself in the direction of the nearest casino, showroom, shopping mall or celebrity chef restaurant and you’re all but guaranteed a great time.

However …

What if you’re the type whose tastes run towards the unconventional, the unpredictable, the unapologetically offbeat? Can you still have a good time in Vegas?

The answer is a resounding yes. You just have to know where to look. Don’t worry about knowing where to start. Here at Club de Soleil, a sunny French Mediterranean vacation ownership property just three miles from the world famous Las Vegas Strip, we’ve done the research for you. Enjoy!

DIG THIS

Described as a giant sandbox for grown-ups, Dig This lets you live out your heavy equipment-operating fantasies in bulldozers and excavators. Following a 30-minute training and orientation session, guests can dig trenches or build large earthen mounds. There are also skill tests, like moving humongous tires or deftly plucking basketballs from their resting place on top of safety cones. Feel what it’s like to be a real construction worker!

SPEED VEGAS

Tired of living life in the slow lane? Get behind the wheel of a Ferrari, Lamborghini or Corvette at Speed Vegas and put the pedal to the metal. Feel the raw power and precise handling of a fire breathing supercar with a thrilling driving experience on one of Las Vegas’s longest racetracks. What a rush!

SIGNA DERBY MACHINE

Mechanical horse racing machines were once a common site at Las Vegas’ free standing race book gambling emporiums, but now there is only one left in the city. Found on the second floor of the D Las Vegas on Fremont Street, the quarter-operated Sigma Derby Machine allows bettors to book action on five mechanical horses. Betting odds range from 2-1 to 200-1. Once you’ve selected your horse, you have 30 seconds to put in your quarter. Then it’s off to the races!

ZAK BAGANS’ THE HAUNTED MUSEUM

Housed in a Tudor-style home built in 1938 for a prominent Las Vegas businessman and his family, Zak Bagans’ The Haunted Museum is a storehouse of the weird and macabre the Ghost Adventures personality has acquired traveling the world for his popular Travel Channel show. Take the mandatory guided tour and see Zak’s “possessions,” some of which are allegedly haunted. The collection even includes personal effects once belonging to infamous serial killers. Visitors beware: The once-abandoned house may still harbor evil spirits and was allegedly the site of satanic rituals in the basement. How many times do we have to say it? Don’t go in the basement!

JOHNSON J-BAR-B STABLES

This private horse ranch and equestrian center offers a whimsical visual feast just 20 minutes northwest of downtown Las Vegas. Sheet metal cowboys and cowgirls sit atop various structures, bombs and cutout metal flowers decorate the side gate, silhouettes of horses and sunflowers dot the fences and interior buildings, and old farm implements and horseshoes have been repurposed for maximum esthetic appeal. Built in 1961, the once far-flung stables have been reeled in and overtaken by the city. They are a reminder of a time when Las Vegas was not the runaway metropolis it has become, but an open desert with a patchwork population.

SEVEN MAGIC MOUNTAINS

Art to some, painted rocks to others, Seven Magic Mountains is a series of stacked neon boulders that rise some 35 feet above the desert floor 20 minutes south of Las Vegas. Like all public works of art, Seven Magic Mountains is in the eye of the boulder – er, beholder.

KISS MONSTER MINI-GOLF COURSE

Located inside the Rio Hotel and Casino, this KISS-themed mini golf course gives duffers the opportunity to roll a putt up the 15-foot tongue and into the gaping maw of Gene Simmons. Added bonus: a live DJ playing KISS music while you play.

MERMAID SWIM SHOW

If swimming with the fishes isn’t high on your bucket list, perhaps you’d prefer to watch lovely mermaids cavort with our gilled friends in the 117,000 gallon aquarium of the Silverton Hotel’s Mermaid Lounge. The effect is mesmeric and the price is right – free!

Las Vegas holiday attractions

Christmas lights are almost redundant in a place like Las Vegas, the eternally glowing city whose preternatural radiance is visible even from outer space. Nevertheless, the holidays are a festive time in the Entertainment Capital of the World, and the city feverishly celebrates the occasion with seasonal events that are fun for the whole family.

If you’re spending Christmas with us at sunny Club de Soleil, a French Mediterranean-themed property just minutes from the world famous Las Vegas Strip, you should take the time to sample the many wondrous attractions throughout the city – attractions that belie the notion of Las Vegas as nothing but an adult playground.

LAS VEGAS STRIP

Bellagio Fountains and Conservatory

The dancing waters outside the Bellagio, just three miles from Club de Soleil on the Las Vegas Strip, put on a special holiday show featuring classic holiday tunes on the half and quarter hours throughout the Christmas season. While you’re there, step inside the hotel and marvel at the awe-inspiring Christmas display at the Bellagio Conservatory. It’s a spectacular winter wonderland that features abundant lights, poinsettias and a 40-foot Christmas tree!

Cosmo, Mandalay Bay, LINQ

While you’re on the Strip be sure to take in the holiday attractions at the Cosmopolitan, Mandalay Bay and the LINQ. Nothing is more emblematic of the holiday season than the Cosmopolitan’s rooftop ice skating rink overlooking the Las Vegas Strip. You’ll find fire pits, plenty of places to sit, and a menu of warm cocktails, comfort foods and hot chocolate. Snow showers fall every 30 minutes to complement the wintry holiday atmosphere. There is also a 65-foot digital marquee showing holiday movies while skaters navigate the 4,200-square foot rink.

ARIA

The sweetest holiday attraction on the Strip resides at Aria, in whose lobby resides a 15-foot tall gingerbread house. The three-tiered display is seven feet wide, 12 feet deep and is comprised of more than 400 pounds of gingerbread in addition to more than 60,000 peppermints, 200 pounds of icing, 80 pounds of chocolate and more than 1,000 pounds of candy. It is accompanied by a 5-foot-tall gingerbread man who tips the scales at a svelte 120 pounds. Please resist the temptation to sample. The gingerbread house is for viewing only.

Venetian and Palazzo

These center Strip sister properties celebrate the holidays with thousands of lights, towering Christmas trees and nightly shows.

The Venetian’s 65-foot-tall Christmas Tree is lit with 50,000 programmable LED lights, adorned with more than 5,000 ornaments and weighs more than 12,000 pounds. It takes approximately 12 people nearly three days to install.

The Palazzo’s  winter gardens feature white poinsettias, ice branches and glittering frosted trees courtesy of the resort’s horticulture team. Hand-crafted white and pearl peacock statues overlook the guests.

Wynn

Not to be outdone, the neighboring Wynn celebrates the season with festive activities and events throughout the resort.

The holiday display gives visitors a peek inside Santa’s workshop, where the elves are busy making toys and loading the sleigh. A nine-minute holiday laser light show features classic holiday tunes and runs daily every hour.

Honoring our shining stars

Housekeepers and maintenance engineers are the backbone of any resort operation. Here at Club de Soleil, a sunny French Mediterranean-style property near the world famous Las Vegas Strip, we took the opportunity recently to celebrate their hard work with a day a food, fun and recognition. Nearly 20 of our most valuable team members gathered on the Club 1 tennis court, where they participated in a series of contests that tested their steadiness, challenged their precision and relieved them of their senses.

“Thank you for taking the time to join us for our celebration,” assistant general manager Thomas Price told the assembled prior to the competition. “We appreciate what you do here every day and extend our sincere gratitude to you for your hard work and dedication. I am constantly amazed by your ability to keep smiling and maintain a positive attitude, so it is with great pleasure that we hold this special day for you.”

Splitting into two teams for each event, the participants competed in what may be termed a Housekeeper Olympics, where the winners earned gold-colored medals, the accolades of their peers and bragging rights for an entire year.

SHAKY TRAY RELAY RACE

Club de Soleil Las Vegas Housekeeper Appreciation Week

First to test their skill was the four-person Shaky Tray Relay Race, a nervy balance exercise that required each contestant to carry a tray of wobbly shower amenities from the tennis court baseline to a partner standing at the net. That individual in turn would retrace the steps back to the baseline and hand off the tray to another waiting teammate. If the contents of the tray spilled before each carrier reached the desired destination, the individual was required to return to the original starting point, reset the amenities and try again, meanwhile falling ever farther behind. This was repeated four times until the team with the steadiest gate crossed the finish line first without a spill.

WILD WILD WASHCLOTH

Club de Soleil Las Vegas Housekeeper Appreciation Week

Next was the Wild Wild Washcloth, a pressure-packed exercise in fast folding aptitude where the winners were judged to have folded the most towels in three minutes. The catch? Each folded washcloth had to meet a strict set of guidelines as determined by management, which was as follows:

Guideline 1: the label must hidden.
Guideline 2: the fluffy ends must be visible on both sides.

Folded towels that did not conform to these exacting standards were disqualified.

Lastly, Can’t See Sheet was an object lesson in ocular independence. For this event, two teams of two blindfolded participants stood face to face holding an outstretched bed sheet. The team to fold it neat, fold it fast and fold it first was declared the winner.

Thanks to our valuable guest room attendants and all our team members for their dedication and hard work. We appreciate their efforts and hope to make Housekeeper Appreciation Day a yearly event.

Summer vacation packing tips for Vegas!

In our last blog post, we told you what and how to pack for your children on vacation. Now we turn our attention to you! Often competing with the anticipation of a long-awaited summer visit to Vegas and Club de Soleil, a sunny French-Mediterranean property three miles from the Strip, is the nagging consideration of what and how much to bring. This debate can befuddle even the most seasoned traveler, leaving you to anguish over the consequences of either packing too little or stuffing a suitcase to the exploding point (also known as Going Anaconda).

After scouring the web for helpful tips on the subject, we were surprised to learn packing is more complex than we thought, especially since our own packing practices typically adhere to the following rudimentary three-part formula:

  1. Get suitcase
  2. Open
  3. Put stuff in

Well it turns out there’s so much more to this packing stuff than we would have ever guessed. In researching these helpful suggestions, we learned it was possible to cram more information into a single article than is necessary and have therefore concluded that, when it comes to packing tips, like packing itself less is best.

DO

Roll your clothes

Tightly rolled clothes take up less space than folded ones and are less likely to get deep wrinkles from creases. If you can’t break the lifelong habit of folding your clothes, consider placing them in air compression bags. They squeeze the air out of garments and give you more room in your suitcase.

Carry-on

If you’re traveling light consider the carry-on option instead of checking your bag. It will expedite your immediate departure from the airport after you’ve reached your destination.

Check-in early

Checking in online 24 hours before your flight is also recommendable for saving time at the airport and getting a better seat.

Make a packing list

Start your packing process well ahead of your departure date. Doing so will give you time to purchase any additional items you may need and ensure you won’t forget something important.

Familiarize yourself with the TSA’s liquids rule

The Transportation Security Administration permits you to bring a quart-sized bag of liquids, aerosols, gels, creams, and pastes in your carry-on bag and through the checkpoint. These are limited to travel-sized containers that are 3.4 ounces or less per item. The TSA suggests placing these items in a small bag and separating them from your carry-on baggage to facilitate the screening process. Any liquid, aerosol, gel, cream or paste that alarms during screening will require additional screening.

Keep your essentials close

It goes without saying but it’s probably worth repeating to keep your valuable and essential belongings in your carry-on bag, not in your checked luggage. These include your identification, money, credit cards, jewelry, electronics, passport, and other valuables. You should also pack a zippered pouch containing in-flight comfort items such as remedies, tissues, hand wipes, personal hygiene items, earbuds or headphones, and a pen.

Charge it

It is recommended that you charge all electronic devices before reaching the airport. This will keep you from frantically searching for that rare unused outlet if you are running late.

Know your airline’s baggage fee policy

The airlines’ baggage fee policies are nothing if not arbitrary. Knowing them will save you a lot of frustration – and maybe some money.

Pack Snacks

Healthy snacks, that is. Nuts, breakfast bars, fruit, and baby carrots are preferable to chips and other empty calorie choices for keeping you energized on a long flight. Keep hydrated with water and avoid excessive coffee consumption, which is a recipe for dehydration and edginess.

DON’T

Pack More Clothes than You Need

Reducing the number of outfits you pack can significantly lighten your load. Bring neutral colored clothing you can mix and match, and only pack shoes you can wear with multiple outfits.

Bring Things You Can Buy At Your Destination

Save on luggage weight fees by bringing only what you need. Unless you’re going third world, you can safely assume most places have drug and convenience stores that stock simple items that are better left unpacked.

Flash Jewelry and Other Valuables

Or better yet, don’t bring them. Tourists are frequent targets of thieves, and most homeowners’ insurance will not cover the cost of lost or stolen jewelry. If you must bring along your Rolex or diamonds, pack them in your carry-on and not in your checked luggage, which some airlines have a tendency to lose.

Pack Extraneous Gadgets

Not only do they take up valuable room in your personal carry-on, they also require you to pack the items that keep them running (spare batteries, chargers, electrical adapters and converters). Keep it simple. Your precious phone and a laptop or tablet should more than suffice. And really, does anyone need to bring along a toothbrush sanitizer or a hotel door alarm system?

CLUB DE SOLEIL

Club de Soleil evokes the warmth and charm of the French Mediterranean three miles from the world famous Las Vegas Strip. Divided into two distinct properties, Club’s 162 suites offer uncommon space, convenience and privacy. Guests can enjoy two 24-hour pools and hot tubs, two putting greens, a tennis court, a fitness center and complimentary shuttle to the Strip.

Pack these kid essentials for your summer vacation to Vegas and Club de Soleil

With another school year coming to a blessed conclusion, you’ve probably given at least some thought to where you’re going on summer vacation. What to pack for the kids? Now that’s another story.

Packing for Vegas and family friendly Club de Soleil used to be so simple when you were single. Usually a change of clothes would do, and maybe not even that if you weren’t planning to ever leave the craps table.

But those days are over. You’re respectable now, which means you’ve probably become a parent. And a taxi. Life in its present iteration is a series of take-me-tos and pick-me-ups – from dance classes, from soccer games, from youth orchestra rehearsal.

And yet you still make time for Vegas and Club de Soleil, a sunny French Mediterranean-themed property just three miles from the world famous Las Vegas Strip. If this summer marks your first trip with the kids to Sin City, you may be wondering what you should pack. Trust us: you’ll need more than bail money.

Suitcases

How many to bring? This question has bedeviled travelers making their first trip to Las Vegas with children since the early `90s, when it officially became a family destination. Don’t sweat it: We’ve devised a foolproof formula to help you determine how many bags to pack.

First, subtract the number of children you’re bringing from the number of days you’re staying. Do the reverse if the number of children exceeds the number of days.

Next, divide the difference by the number of numbers on a roulette wheel, multiply the result by the number of seats at a blackjack table, then add by the number of times you’ve left Vegas in the red instead of the black.

Now take that number and subtract it by Las Vegas’ daily average July temperature and you’ll have the answer.

Or to put it simply – one suitcase per child.

Clothing

Yes, bring it. Las Vegas, believe it or not, has the same mandatory clothing expectations as your own hometown. Use the length-of-stay metric as a barometer for determining how much to pack, but be sure to include two extra shirts per child in the event of profuse sweating, sleepwear, an extra pair of shoes per child if you’re planning on walking a lot – not recommended in 100-plus degree temperatures during the day – and of course bathing suits for our beautiful 24-hour pools and hot tubs!

Toiletries

Whatever products contribute to your kids’ personal hygiene at home will also suffice in Las Vegas. See? We’re not that different after all.

Gadgets

As any parent can attest, a happy child is a distracted child – and nothing distracts better (which is to say longer) than a gadget. If you’re taking your kids on vacation, the key to your contentment is finding those devices whose unique trance-inducing qualities can significantly reduce the likelihood you’ll hear those two dreaded little words: “I’m bored.” Find the right ones, in fact, and it may just be you telling them to put the darn things down – “or else.” Click here for a comprehensive list.

Sunscreen

Think of this as extra clothing. Unlike regular clothing, you’ll want to wear more in summer.

Travel Toys

Click here for a handy guide to age-appropriate transportable toys. You’ll need `em.

Things For Baby

If you’re planning on making your children lifelong Vegas visitors, you have to start them young. We recommend no later than two weeks postpartum just to get their little lungs acclimated to smoky casinos. Here’s what you should bring with you:

Five diapers per day per child

One full package of wipes

A sling

Sippies and microwave sterilizing bags

Formula

Baby food

Transportable toddler snacks

Disposable diaper sacks

Now that you know what to pack, just remember to bring your kids. Book your summer visit to Club de Soleil today!

Vacation ownership on the rise for the eighth straight year!

Some travelers have found the secret to vacationing better – timeshare! This is borne out in the U.S. timeshare industry, which enjoyed its eighth straight year of steady growth in 2017. According to a 2018 timeshare industry study for the American Resort Development Association (ARDA), vacationing with timeshare is strong and getting stronger.

In 2017:

Sales volume increased from $9.2 billion in 2016 to $9.6 billion in 2017, nearly a 4 percent increase and more than 26 percent increase since 2013.

Average occupancy rate was more than 81 percent, compared to a 65.9 percent hotel occupancy rate. Higher occupancy rate extends benefits beyond the resort itself and into the local surrounding markets and communities, such as spending at local restaurants, purchasing groceries for the fully-equipped in-unit kitchen, and purchasing gas for rental cars.

Rental revenue increased from $1.9 billion in 2016 to $2.3 billion in 2017, a 20 percent increase.

There were 1,570 timeshare resorts in the U.S., representing approximately 205,100 units.

About 72 percent of timeshare units are two bedrooms or more and the average unit size is over 1,000 square feet.

The average sales price was $22,180 per interval.

The average maintenance fee was $980, remaining relatively flat with a one percent increase over 2016.

Other interesting facts from the study were:

Thirty-four percent of resorts are beach resorts, making them the most common type of resort.

Thirty-five island resorts had the highest occupancy rate of nearly 90 percent.

Florida had the highest number of timeshare resorts with 373.

Nevada had the largest resorts with 249 units on average.

Consistency of cost is a timeshare hallmark, and while hotel room pricing has continued to rise year over year since 2015, your Club de Soleil vacation club in Las Vegas remained unaffected by market trends and subsequent supply and demand economics.

Ownership means you are never subject to the unpredictable pricing practices of opportunistic Las Vegas hotels, whose rates rise exorbitantly with each UFC event, mega boxing match or New Year’s Eve weekend.

Conversely, the cost of timeshare ownership remains steady and affordable, with property upkeep through the responsible application of maintenance fees the primary objective – not the wringing of every last dime out of the consumer.

As you’ve discovered, timeshare ownership at Club de Soleil, a sunny French Mediterranean-themed property in Las Vegas, is a great bet. We are humbled and honored to count you among our numerous vacation club members. We take seriously our responsibility to provide you with a beautifully maintained property and look forward to helping you make wonderful vacation memories year after year.
